hypoplastic right ventricle with multiple associated anomaly: a challenging case for biventricular repair or univentricular approach?

چکیده
abstract hypoplastic right ventricular is a rare congenital heart disease. a few cases have been reported. we presented a case with hypoplastic right ventricular and multiple associated anomaly (ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect and pulmonary stenosis) in whom the main concern was whether biventricular repair or fontan type surgery would be the optimal management in this patient. biventricular repair was done successfully using the multimodality cardiac imaging with intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography.

Biventricular repair approach in ducto-dependent neonates with hypoplastic but morphologically normal left ventricle.
OBJECTIVES Increased afterload and multilevel LV obstruction is constant. We assumed that restoration of normal loading conditions by relief of LV obstructions promotes its growth, provided that part of the cardiac output was preoperatively supported by the LV, whatever the echocardiographic indexes. BACKGROUND Whether to perform uni- or biventricular repair in ducto dependent neonates with h...
متن کاملBiventricular repair of pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum and severely hypoplastic right ventricle: a case report of a minimum intervention surgical approach
BACKGROUND In patients who have pulmonary atresia with an intact ventricular septum and severe right ventricular hypoplasia, biventricular repair is considered to be impossible and multiple interventions are generally required for definitive repair. CASE PRESENTATION An initial palliative procedure was performed in a 1-month-old boy to promote right ventricular development by pulmonary valvec...
متن کاملCongenital diverticulum of the left ventricle associated with hypoplastic right ventricle and ventricular septal defect.
A case of congenital diverticulum of the left ventricle associated with a ventricular septal defect and severe hypoplasia of the right ventricle without tricuspid or pulmonary atresia is described and the relevant literature is reviewed. The distinction between true muscular diverticulae and congenital apical aneurysms is made, the latter term being preferred for similar abnormalities described...
متن کاملA challenging entity: multiple sclerosis or collagen tissue disorders: A case series of 6 patients
Background: Multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating processes are sometimes difficult to differentiate from the neurological involvement in autoimmune diseases. Distinguishing multiple sclerosis from other lesions due to autoimmune diseases is crucial to avoid unsuitable or delayed treatments. Methods: Charts of 6 patients diagnosed with mimicking multiple sclerosis between 1996 and 2014 we...
متن کاملOne and a half ventricular repair as an alternative for hypoplastic right ventricle.
OBJECTIVE Patients with complex congenital heart disease, characterized by right ventricle hypoplasia, had a palliative surgical option with one and a half ventricular repair. METHODS From July 2001 to March 2009, nine patients (mean age 5.2 years, range 3 to 9 years) with hypoplastic right ventricle, underwent correction with one and a half ventricle technique. Preoperative diagnoses include...
متن کاملThe New Concept of Univentricular Heart
The concept of univentricular heart moved from hearts with only one ventricle connected with atria [double inlet ventricle or absent atrioventricular (AV) connection] to hearts not amenable to biventricular repair, namely hearts with two ventricles unable to sustain separately pulmonary and systemic circulations in sequence. In the latter definition, even hearts with one hypoplastic ventricle a...
